Not surprisingly, the 34-year-old Toffoli was the victim. Fresh off a run of three-straight years scoring 30-plus goals, Toffoli managed just 19 in 79 games a season ago. His 49 points were his lowest total since 2021-22. About the only thing that went right for Toffoli was the fact he managed 15 points with the man advantage. Known as a volume shooter throughout his career, Toffoli managed just 172 shots on goal last season, down from 233 the year prior. As these young players get more and more comfortable for San Jose, Toffoli, who has two years left on his deal at a cap hit of $6 million, is at risk of seeing his role reduced even further.
