NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Even without Sheryl Swoopes and Katie
Smith, Team USA had more than enough firepower to down the WNBA
Lisa Leslie collected 15 points and 12 rebounds and Yolanda
Griffith added 11 and 15 to lead Team USA to an easy 74-58
triumph over the WNBA All-Stars at Radio City Music Hall.
Tamika Catchings had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Team USA,
which was missing stars Swoopes (sore right foot) and Smith
(bruised right knee).
The Olympic team dominated the glass, outrebounding the
All-Stars, 62-30. Team USA shot just 38 percent (30-of-80) but
limited the All-Stars to 29 percent (21-of-72), including an
embarrassing 1-of-20 from the arc.
Team USA took a 9-8 lead 4 1/2 minutes into the contest before
closing the half on a 30-12 run. Griffith had nine points and
nine rebounds in 12 minutes in the half.
