News: 11 hours agoMariota completed just seven of 19 pass attempts for 139 yards and an interception while rushing five times for three yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over Cleveland.

Spin: Mariota got the win for his team, but he certainly did not help his fantasy managers with his final stat line. The former first-round pick was under duress all game by the Browns' elite pass rush unit. Mariota had been putting up strong fantasy results leading up to this near-negative game, so there is a chance for a bounce-back performance against the Buccaneers -- who are much tighter against opposing rushing attacks -- next Sunday.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Mariota is competing with third-round rookie Desmond Ridder to replace Matt Ryan as the Falcons' starting QB. Mariota has barely seen the field since losing the starting gig in Tennessee in 2019. He's played extended snaps in one game over the last two seasons and showed well in that 2020 Week 15 outing (226 passing yards, 88 rushing yards and a pair of TDs). Of course, prior to that, the 2015 second-overall pick struggled during five seasons in Tennessee. Mariota has been effective with his legs throughout his career (264-1,574-13 rushing line), but that has yet to translate to a top-12 fantasy campaign (he's finished better than 18th once). We shouldn't expect that to change in Atlanta's rebuilding offense. He's not a good QB2 option.
