News: 2 days agoKelley is inactive for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.
Spin: With Kelley inactive for the second straight game, Austin Ekeler, Larry Rountree and Justin Jackson are in line to handle the Chargers' Week 2 backfield duties.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: A 2020 fourth-round pick, Kelley exploded out of the gate with 37 touches (13th-most) during his first two NFL games. His efficiency was not particularly good, however, and his playing time decreased from there. That includes a seven-game stretch (Weeks 4-11) in which Austin Ekeler was out with an injury. Kelley ended the season 43rd among RBs with 134 touches, but failed to post a single weekly fantasy finish better than 25th. He posted a 3.2 YPC (16th-worst among 551 RBs with a 100-plus carry season since 2009) and 1.2 YAC (20th-worst), but did catch all but one of his 24 targets. The 23-year-old entered the pros with an underwhelming elusiveness profile and that translated to the pros. He'll compete with Justin Jackson for work behind Ekeler again this season, but has little upside.
