ESPN Fantasy Projection: Vatrano has always been an underrated goal scorer with an excellent shot. Some thought a breakout performance was possible in his first year with a weak Anaheim team in 2022-23, but his numbers (22 goals, 41 points, 231 shots on goal, nine power-play points) while solid, were right in line with what we have seen from him in the past. Toss in Vatrano's ugly minus-29 rating, and he was essentially unusable from a fantasy standpoint in leagues that count that statistic. His plus-minus rating may improve some, and the scoring output should still be there, but you can probably find a player with more upside on draft day.
