News: 2 days agoTkachuk (face) is expected to play in Monday's preseason matchup against Pittsburgh.

Spin: Tkachuk was clipped by an errant stick near his eye last Wednesday during a team skate. As a precaution, he missed some practice time and a few exhibition games. In his return to action Monday, Tkachuk is slated to play alongside Tim Stutzle and Claude Giroux. The 24-year-old Tkachuk registered 35 goals, 83 points, 347 shots on net and 242 hits in 82 games last season.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Depending on the format of your league, there's a real case to make that Tkachuk is worthy of a top-five selection. Not only did he average more than a point-per-game (35 goals, 83 points in 82 games) for the first time in his career in 2022-23, but he also finished with 240-plus hits (242) for a fourth straight year. Toss in new high-water marks in shots on goal (347) and power-play points (29), and you have an elite all-around fantasy producer on your hands. Don't be afraid to reach for Tkachuk on draft day if your league values those secondary statistics beyond the scoring.
