ESPN Fantasy Projection: Malinski's breakout 2025-26 season was one of the NHL's most shocking performances. He finished with eight goals and 40 points while appearing in all 82 games for Colorado. This is a guy that managed just eight goals and 25 points in 99 games the prior two years combined. Malinski's plus-43 rating tied him for third in the NHL with Nikita Kucherov. While it was a great story, it appears entirely unsustainable. Malinski gets zero power-play time and his shooting percentage this past season was nearly identical to the year prior. The solid plus/minus rating will be there. But fantasy owners should project Malinski for more like 25-30 points moving forward, which would make him a fringe fantasy asset.
