Shooting struggles continue for All-Star forward Jackson

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Silver Stars coach Dan Hughes liked the game

Shannon Johnson had, but enjoyed seeing the other San Antonio

players also produce.

"I felt good about the balanced play," he said. "We had all

five starters in double figures."

Johnson scored 18 points as the Silver Stars defeated Seattle

81-69 Thursday night, handing the Storm their fourth straight

defeat.

Marie Ferdinand had 16 points and six assists for the Silver

Stars (4-12). Dalma Ivanyi added 14 points, Chantelle Anderson 13

and Wendy Palmer-Daniel 11.

Lauren Jackson led the Storm (7-8) with 17 points.

Just as the defending WNBA champion Storm are struggling,

Jackson continues to struggle with her shot. She went six of 22

against San Antonio and now is 9-for-37 over the past three games.

"It took Lauren Jackson 22 shots to get her points, and the

second half is, by and large, as good offensively as we have

played," Hughes said.

The last time Seattle, lost four straight games was Aug. 19,

2003. The Storm also lost their next game then for a five-game

drought.

"It may have been fatigue, but that's why you need to take

advantage of the first few games on a (road) trip like this,"

Seattle coach Ann Donovan said. "No one likes to go 0-4 on a trip,

but you're going to have an off-night every now and then."

Seattle has lost seven of its past 10 games.

The Silver Stars entered the game with six losses in their past

seven games. San Antonio lost those games by an average of 12.5

points and scored a franchise-low 44 points Saturday in Houston.

Seattle finished the game with a 20-1 advantage in offensive

rebounds. But the Storm shot 34 percent compared to San Antonio's

47 percent.

It was the completion of a difficult four-game road trip for

Seattle. The Storm started the trip in second place in the Western

Conference. They are fifth heading back to Seattle for their first

game at Key Arena since June 22.
