Feenstra, Silver Stars shine against lowly Sky

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Katie Feenstra had a season-high 16 points

and added 11 rebounds Saturday night to lead the San Antonio

Silver Stars past the Chicago Sky 69-57.

Chicago cut a 10-point deficit to two after Chelsea Newton hit a

layup with 4:47 in the third period. But the Silver Stars (8-8)

bounced back with a 12-4 run, capped by a layup by Feenstra, to

take a 49-39 lead later in the period.

Feenstra scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to help San

Antonio keep its double-digit lead.

"She played big," said Silver Stars coach Dan Hughes of

Feenstra. "We needed play near the basket and her play was

incredibly impactful. It was great to see."

Rookie Candice Dupree led Chicago (2-14) with 16 points and nine

rebounds, while Deanna Jackson added 10 points. The Sky have lost

by an average of about 11 points in their 14 defeats this season.

"It's really simple," said Dupree. "Not enough stops and no

points makes it really hard to win games."

Shannon Johnson had 15 points and Agnieszka Bibrzycka added 13,

while rookie forward Sophia Young had a career-high 16 rebounds for

San Antonio, which surpassed their win total from last season.

"Shannon Johnson got us out of the gate early. The veterans

gave us energy to start the game," Hughes said. "And Sophia

Young's work on the boards was exceptional."
