Larkins helps Fever beat Storm 76-68
INDIANAPOLIS -- Erlana Larkins scored 17 points and Natasha Howard and Shavonte Zellous each added 13 to help the Indiana Fever beat the Seattle Storm 76-68 on Wednesday night.
The Fever (5-4) overcame a nine-point, second-quarter deficit, taking the lead at 63-61 on Marissa Coleman's 3-pointer from the left corner with 4 minutes to play.
"I thought it was a good win against a good scrappy team," Fever coach Lin Dunn said. "It is always special for me to see a team behind and come back and win."
Coleman finished with 12 points.
"I am just starting to find my shot," Coleman said. "Missing a lot early on, so I think feeling more and more comfortable and being able to knock down some shot defiantly gets my confidence going."
Larkins also had 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season.
"She is a warrior," Dunn said. "She is the leader of this team. She puts our team on her shoulders and takes us to a victory."
Before the game, Dunn was honored for her accomplishments and upcoming induction into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.
"It was special," Larkins said. "Coach Dunn has done a lot for basketball over the years and it's good to give her a win on a night she is recognized."
Camille Little led Seattle (4-7) with 17 points, Tanisha added 15, and scoring leader Crystal Langhorne was held to eight.
Seattle used a 13-4 run late in the second quarter to build its nine-point lead.
"The second half we kind of lost that focus and intensity," Wright said. "We just didn't do as good of a job and down the stretch they took advantage.
Indiana was again without Tamika Catchings. She has yet to play this season because of a back injury.
