McCoughtry leads Dream to 102-93 win over Wings
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Angel McCoughtry had 26 points and nine rebounds on Friday night, and the Atlanta Dream pulled away late to beat the Dallas Wings 102-93.
The Dream (4-1) took a 94-88 lead with an 8-1 run capped by Sancho Lyttle's free throws with 1:35 left. Odyssey Sims cut the Wings' deficit to three with a three-point play nine seconds later, but Dallas (3-2) went scoreless from there and Atlanta closed with eight straight points.
Lyttle finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and six steals. Layshia Clarendon scored 19, Tiffany Hayes added 15, Elizabeth Williams 13 and Carla Cortijo 10.
Plenette Pierson and Aerial Powers had 16 points each for Dallas. Courtney Paris had 11 points and 14 rebounds, Karima Christmas and Jordan Hooper added 14 points apiece and Sims scored 12.
The Dream have three straight wins, two since starting the week ranked No. 6 in the AP WNBA power poll. The Wings came in ranked fourth.
