Swin Cash becomes 2nd player to reach 5K points, 2K rebounds, 1K assists

UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- Swin Cash reached 5,000 career points, Tina Charles tied a career high with 32 points and the New York Liberty beat the Connecticut Sun 80-72 on Thursday night.

Cash made a hook shot in the lane with 5:22 left in the first quarter to become the 14th player in WNBA history to reach 5,000. She joined Tamika Catchings as the only two WNBA players to have 5,000 points, 2,000 rebounds and 1,000 assists.

Cash finished with seven points for New York (7-4), which is ranked No. 4 in the AP power poll.

Connecticut tied it at 70-all on Alex Bentley's transition 3-pointer with 2:34 left but the Sun did not score again until the 17-second mark. Sugar Rodgers highlighted New York's 6-0 run during that stretch with a long jumper, and the Liberty made four of four free throws to ice it.

Bentley paced 11th-ranked Connecticut (2-10) with 16 points, and Kelsey Bone added 14.
