Arizona completed its first three-game sweep ever when it beat the Reds at Cinergy Field in June 1998. Since then, the Diamondbacks have gone 8-20 against the Reds.

Curt Schilling allowed one run and four hits over seven innings and Luis Gonzalez belted his league-leading 18th home run as Arizona posted its fourth straight victory over Cincinnati, 2-1, on Wednesday.

Reds rookie starter Chris Reith had a no-hitter through 5 2/3 innings but took the loss when Gonzalez and Matt Williams connected for back-to-back homers to open the seventh inning.

Of the 18 runs scored by Arizona in its last four games, 16 have come by way of the home run.

Cincinnati also lost second baseman Pokey Reese in the fifth inning. Reese suffered a cut on his right index finger diving into first base on a pickoff attempt and received five stitches.

The Reds fell for the 13th time in 15 games and fell to a major league-worst 6-15 at home. Cincinnati starting pitchers are 0-10 in the last 16 games.

Rob Bell (0-2, 3.79 ERA) will try to change that for Cincinnati. Bell is making his fourth start and pitched well in his last outing despite suffering the loss -- he allowed two runs and six hits in eight innings in a 2-1 defeat to Houston last Saturday.

Bell, a righthander, is making his first appearance against Arizona.

The Diamondbacks will turn to lefthander Brian Anderson (0-3, 7.36). Anderson has been pounded for 21 hits in his last 13 2/3 innings.

The southpaw allowed a season-high 11 hits and four runs against the Reds on May 7 in 6 2/3 innings. He is 2-3 lifetime against Cincinnati.
