ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- Ramon Ortiz looks to rebound from two subpar outings Thursday night when he starts for the Anaheim Angels in the rubber game of a three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays.
After Toronto posted a 9-3 victory on Tuesday, Anaheim received a strong performance from Scott Schoeneweis in Wednesday's 3-1 win. Schoeneweis, pitching for the first time in 12 days after being bothered by lower back problems, allowed one run and seven hits over 6 1/3 innings. Troy Percival struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday for his eighth save in as many chances. Percival has allowed just three hits and an unearned run in 13 1/3 innings. Toronto, which has lost seven of its last eight games, starts Joey Hamilton (1-2, 4.99). The righthander has not won since April 9 and was reached for five runs and eight hits over seven innings in Friday's 7-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners. Hamilton last faced the Angels in 1999 when he went 1-0 in two starts, allowing four runs and 10 hits in 14 innings.
