PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The Milwaukee Brewers try for their first-ever three-game sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies in the series finale Thursday night.
Devon White and Jeffrey Hammonds drove in two runs apiece for the Brewers, who needed the big effort from Haynes after using six pitchers in Tuesday's wild, 14-10, 10-inning victory. Haynes responded by turning in his longest outing of the year. Paul Rigdon (2-1, 4.24 ERA) will make his ninth start of the season for Milwaukee. The righthander is searching for his first victory since April 21. Rigdon is making his first appearance in Veterans Stadium. Randy Wolf (3-4, 4.65) will oppose Rigdon. Wolf has won his last two starts in which he has allowed just three runs and 12 hits over 15 innings. The lefthander defeated the Brewers in his lone start against them last season. Philadelphia is trying to avoid a fourth straight loss, which would match its longest losing streak of the year. The Brewers two victories in this series matched their win total in nine previous road meetings with the Phillies.
