News: 3 days agoGordon is expected to sign a practice-squad deal with the Chiefs this week, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Spin: Denver waived Gordon following a Week 11 fumble, and the running back went unclaimed through waivers due to his sizable contract. However, he soon will find a new home in Kansas City and could crack the Chiefs' backfield rotation, which currently is led by rookie Isiah Pacheco. Gordon fumbled 12 times (nine lost) across 37 appearances with the Broncos, but he'll look to put those issues behind him. In his eight-year career, the 29-year-old has rushed for 6,462 yards and 55 touchdowns while securing 309 receptions for 2,467 yards and an additional 14 scores.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Gordon re-signed with Denver after a successful 2021 with the team. The veteran back is one of 11 players in NFL history with at least nine TDs in six straight seasons and one of 11 players in NFL history with zero TDs on 200-plus touches in a single season. How's that for an incredible stat? Gordon has found the end zone 67 times over the last six seasons after going scoreless as a rookie in 2015. He split backfield duties with Javonte Williams in Denver last season and posted a career-best 2.2 YAC, which was in the 80th percentile among backs. Despite the impressive season, Gordon hasn't had a top-12 fantasy campaign since 2018 and is now 29 years old. He's a strong bet to defer more work to Williams and figures to cap out as a pedestrian flex option, though he does have elite insurance value.
