News: 16 hours agoThe Texans are slated to trade Ingram to the Saints, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Spin: Ingram, who had been leading a committee backfield in Houston along with David Johnson and Phillip Lindsay, is now slated to work behind the Saints' undisputed top back, Alvin Kamara. While it's a good fit in real terms, given Ingram's previous tenure with New Orleans and the team's need for depth behind Kamara, Ingram's fantasy value likely takes a hit with the move, while both Johnson and Lindsay figure to see an uptick in touches.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Ingram signed with Houston during the offseason after eight seasons in New Orleans and two with Baltimore. Ingram was a fantasy starter as recently as 2019 (1,265 yards and 15 TDs on 228 touches), but fell off the map in 2020, often designated as a healthy scratch down the stretch. Ingram is now 31 years old and will be more of a veteran presence than a consistent contributor in a backfield that also includes David Johnson and Phillip Lindsay. Ingram may steal the occasional touchdown, but even if injuries were to strike, it's unlikely he'd handle enough work for RB2 production. Ingram is only worth a very late draft pick.
