Phillie Phantastic
Phillie Phantastic
Finally, a new chapter is being written in Philadelphia. The Phillies, by winning, wrote something different from the same old story. For the first time since 1993, they are headed to the World Series. Jayson Stark | Postseason schedule

Scouting Reports

Keith Law on Jamie Moyer
"Moyer, throwing 81-83 mph two-seamers and 74-76 mph changeups with the occasional breaking ball, needs a compliant, overeager opponent to buy into his deception."

Game 5 Notes
• The Phillies advanced to World Series for first time since 1993 and improved to 4-0 in LCS closeout games. It will be the sixth trip to the Series for the Phillies, who won it in 1980.
• Cole Hamels earned the win and is 3-0 this postseason. His three postseason wins rank second in Phillies history. Steve Carlton is first with six wins.
• Jimmy Rollins hit his third career postseason leadoff homer, most all time. It was his second homer this postseason. He's the first player with two leadoff homers in the same postseason.
• Rafael Furcal tied a postseason record with three errors in an inning, matching the mark set by Willie Davis (1966 Dodgers, World Series Game 2). He made four errors in the series after making four errors in 36 regular-season games.
• Shane Victorino picked up his 11th postseason RBI, a postseason record for the Phils. The previous high was Len Dykstra's 10 in 1993.
