Game 5 Notes

• Phillies third baseman Pedro Feliz got the game-winning RBI. In the clinching game of the 1980 World Series, Phillies third baseman had the game-winning RBI.

• The Phillies became the fifth team in MLB history to win three straight games at home after splitting the first two games of the World Series on the road.

• The win gives the city of Philadelphia its first major sports championship since 1983, when the 76ers won the NBA title.

• The Phillies' 28-year span between World Series titles is tied for the fourth longest in MLB history.

• Game 5 resumed after being suspended at 10:40 p.m. ET on Monday (based on the time the tarp was put on the field). Officially, the Phillies are listed as having clinched the World Series on Oct. 27 (the day the game began).

• Rocco Baldelli's home run was his second of the postseason. It was the first homer allowed by Ryan Madson at Citizens Bank Park since April 29.

• Ryan Howard became the first regular-season home run champion to win the World Series since 1980 (Mike Schmidt).

• Brad Lidge got the save, his seventh of the postseason. Between the regular season and the postseason, Lidge was a perfect 48-of-48 in save opportunities.

• Shane Victorino's two-run single gave him 13 RBIs this postseason.

• The Phillies were 7-0 at home in the postseason. Since 1995, only the Phillies and the 1999 Yankees have gone unbeaten at home in postseason and won the World Series.

This isn't just a win for the championship-deprived Phillies or the championship-deprived city of Philadelphia. This is a win for guys like Jamie Moyer, guys who played hookey in high school to watch the last Phillies championship parade.
