MOSCOW -- Yelena Soboleva set a national record in a mile
race at the Russian Winter IAAF indoor meet on Sunday.
Soboleva won in 4 minutes, 20.21 seconds, shaving 3.50 seconds
off the old mark of 4:24.11 set by Elena Zadorozhnaya in 2001.
Olympic champion Yuri Borzakovskiy broke away with a lap to go
to win the 800 meters in a season-best 1 minute, 46.78 seconds.
World indoor 800-meter champion Wilfred Bungei of Kenya was 0.74
behind for second, and Yuri Koldin was third.
