Really not the best way to get musical street cred.

But the four-member rock band shortened its name to Fozzy, started playing only original heavy metal and will release its fourth album -- "Chasing the Grail" -- on Tuesday.

"Being a wrestler and being in this band is a blessing and a curse," said Jericho, who wrestles for the WWE. "People won't think I can sing because I'm a wrestler. But this is our fourth record, and we've been together for 10 years, so we must be doing something right."

Jericho met Rich Ward of Stuck Mojo in 1999 after a wrestling show in San Antonio and was invited to play with the band. Jericho sat in on a few sessions. A year later, he joined as front man and went on tour.

Their first two albums were mostly covers of heavy metal music such as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. But as Fozzy matured as a band, the group decided to write and produce its own music. Fozzy's first album of original work was "All that Remains" in 2005.

Now, five years later, the group is releasing its "best album ever," Jericho said.

"If we didn't have good songs, people wouldn't be coming back," he said. "Listen, any band is a gimmick. People need to open their minds. We're selling out shows, and people are loving what we do."
