Rob DyrdekBoxer Floyd Mayweather popped by the MTV studios in Los Angeles to film the second season of "Ridiculousness" with Rob Dyrdek. Singer Justin Bieber stopped by this week also.Sitting on a soundstage filming Season 2 of this summer's "Ridiculousness" for MTV, professional skateboarder and entrepreneur Rob Dyrdek said he was a little surprised by the reaction to Season 1 last fall.
Although the show where Dyrdek and friends comment on the funniest amateur viral videos scored well -- averaging about 2 million viewers a night -- people were comparing it to Daniel Tosh's show on Comedy Central.
"It was interesting for me to experience this, the idea of backlash for something I have done," said Dyrdek, who began skateboarding as a child in Ohio and turned that into a full-time multi-venture business. "I'm always known for creating my own lane and this was something different. But, listen, negativity isn't even on my radar. I have so much more to worry about."
In the fall, Tosh, whose "Tosh.0" show is averaging about 2.5 million viewers a night, went on Twitter bashing Dyrdek.
Dyrdek countered then with his own tweets but today says he has no interest in meeting Tosh to straighten things out.
"It's just not relevant to me anymore. We're not even close to having the same show," said Dyrdek, who is also in development for a cartoon series. "I had this video idea years ago to do the show but was so busy that I couldn't get around to it. I don't need to continue to preach that."
So this 20-episode season, which will air this summer, will be shot in two five-day segments. Special guests such as singer Justin Bieber and boxer Floyd Mayweather popped by this week for episodes.
"This season is going to be a thousand times better," said Dyrdek, who has another show on MTV -- "Fantasy Factory" starting its fifth season in less than two weeks. "After we do the first 10 shows, we'll make adjustments and take a break and be ready for the next 10. It's all about the evolution to get better."
