He wasn't going to let this opportunity pass him by.
After turning down ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" years ago, Olympic gold medalist skier Jonny Moseley has joined the cast of ABC's Skating with the Stars".
"I was stupid for not doing 'Dancing', and I loved that show when it came on," said Moseley, who has been a TV broadcaster since giving up the sport eight years ago. "So when I got this call, I thought this was even better. I like skating. Hey, I even did ballet on skates back in the day."
Being around snow and ice his whole career, Moseley is considered the favorite on the show that begins Monday night. Just like "Dancing", the show will feature celebrities paired with figure skating pros. Starting the second week, the pair with the lowest combined judges points and viewer votes will be eliminated.
Moseley will be joined by Motley Crue singer Vince Neil, "Real Housewives" star Bethenny Frankel, actress Rebecca Budig, actress Sean Young and actor Brandon Mychal Smith.
"Honestly, I know it looks like I'm the ringer," Moseley said. "But as you've seen on the dancing show, it's more about the audience reaction and the votes. If I come in and think I can win it that quickly, I could be eliminated that quickly."
