The 6-foot-1, 255-pound Pierre, a Rockland resident, is the second Xaverian lineman to commit to the Bears for the 2016 season, joining trenchmate Nick Allsop, who pledged earlier this month. Overall, Pierre is the fourth lineman from the esteemed Catholic Conference to commit to Brown this summer, joining BC High guard Phil Lynch and St. John's Prep center Jay Carnevale.
Pierre started at defensive tackle on the Hawks' Division 1 State Championship squad last season, recording 41 tackles (18 for loss) and two sacks. Earlier this week, he was named a Preseason All-State selection by ESPNBoston.com.
"It was a tough decision between Brown and Cornell, but I felt that the brotherly-like bond through the Brown football program is much similar to Xaverian, and I want to be a part of that for the next four years," Pierre told ESPNBoston.com. "Brown also gives me a great opportunity to pursue my studies in the classroom because of the level of rigor it has to offer academically.
"In addition, the support and embrace that the coaches showed me was astounding and made it a very welcoming environment. As a student-athlete, I trust that Brown will be the place that will allow me to excel in the classroom and on the field and will also prepare me for life after. Truly humbled and blessed by God for giving me this privilege."
