With the 12th overall pick in Thursday's draft, the Utah Jazz selected Kentucky forward Trey Lyles.

Lyles, 19, enjoyed a strong freshman season for the Wildcats, averaging 8.7 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game. Playing in coach John Calipari's platoon system, Lyles, who stands 6-foot-10 and weighs 242 pounds, made the most of his abbreviated playing time to raise his draft stock.
Originally not listed on Chad Ford's Big Board, Lyles was ranked No. 12 in his final version. Ford said that Lyles' jump in the rankings was a testament to his "great size, skill set and basketball IQ."
Ford also projected the Jazz to take Lyles in his latest mock draft, noting that he provides frontcourt depth behind Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors.
Ford's analysis: "Lyles is such a Jazz pick. Solid, not sexy."
The Jazz used their first of two second-round picks -- No. 42 overall -- to select Boston College point guard Olivier Hanlan. Hanlan, who just missed the cut on Ford's Big Board, led the Atlantic Coast Conference with 19.5 points per game.
Ford's analysis: "Hanlan is a big guard who can play the 1 and the 2. That's exactly what the Jazz needed."
Utah's second second-rounder -- No. 54 overall -- was used to select Spanish small forward Daniel Diez. The Jazz later traded Diez's rights to the Portland Trail Blazers for cash considerations.
