Keegan Bradley has brought us some nice kicks on the golf course, thanks to his relationship with the Jordan brand.
But his first-round shoes at the Masters drew more than the usual reaction. Why? He broke out clean, white shoes with the Jumpman logo and "45" in red.
"45" is, of course, one of three jersey numbers Michael Jordan wore in his career. The 23 is obviously his normal number, he wore 45 when he came back in 1994-95 after trying out baseball and he wore 12 for one game against the Orlando Magic on Feb. 14, 1990, when his jersey was stolen.
The 12 is often forgotten, but so too is the 45, and Jordan went back to 23 the following season. In that way, 45 has always had a coolness factor to it. It also has had a little more historical longevity because he played the "Double Nickel" game in it, when he scored 55 at Madison Square Garden against the Knicks.
We're not sure why Bradley was wearing the "45" today, but it's interesting timing. Tomorrow, Mitchell & Ness is releasing Jordan's 45 jersey for $300.
