Well, folks, that's all the action from today's match. Thank you for tuning in and staying with us. On behalf of Vairavan Karuppiah, this is Rashad Mahbub signing off. Goodbye!

Player of the Match, Charith Asalanka: "[Were you happy with the target score?] Of course, yes. We were really happy about the score because we saw that this is not a typical Kandy pitch. But still, sometimes I thought that 200 was not enough. [Winning the toss] No, I would have done the same thing because of weather conditions, but I think luckily we got the best outcome. [Areas you can improve] Of course, yes. That's what we were aiming for - to take one of the first two spots, because then we get two chances to qualify for the final. We are playing good cricket at the moment, but I still think there are certain areas we can really improve, like our death bowling and especially our fielding. But today, I think our fielding was fantastic."

Kamindu Mendis: "[Should have batted first] No. Considering the weather, we felt bowling first was the right decision. I don't take it back - we made the choice and backed it. Unfortunately, we ended up losing by 13 runs. Throughout this tournament, we've had close games like this, so hopefully in the playoffs we will do better. [Areas to improve] I think the boys have been doing really well, but there are areas we need to refine in both batting and bowling. Mistakes are bound to happen; the important thing is that we learn from them and come back stronger in the next round."

11:08 pm Galle Gallants move to the top of the table with today's victory, setting up a Qualifier 1 clash against the Jaffna Kings. The Kaps staged a solid recovery in the powerplay after losing Hermann early, surging to 62 for 1 thanks to a brilliant display of power-hitting from Samarawickrama. However, their innings collapsed like a house of cards once the field spread. Immediately after the powerplay, Nawaz broke the stand as Samarawickrama chipped a reverse sweep straight to short third, departing for a quickfire 37 off 19. Nawaz wasn't done there, claiming the massive wicket of Mendis in the very same over. The procession continued as Nawaz claimed his third victim of the day, deceiving Bandara with a beautifully flighted delivery to have him stumped out. Just as McDermott started finding his form and hitting the boundaries, he was caught at long on for 38. The spinners completely dominated on a pitch offering flight, turn, drift, and extra bounce; a trick Kamindu Mendis certainly missed out on in the first innings when he held back his spinners' overs and relied heavily on pace. Some sensible batting from Tharupathi and Rathnayaka kept the Kaps in with a faint chance as they built a promising late partnership. But asking the tailenders to pull off a miracle proved too steep, and Tharupathi eventually fell for 36 off 15. Nawaz was the standout bowler, keeping things exceptionally tight while grabbing three wickets, while Javed and Eshan Malinga chipped in with two apiece. Malinga takes home the purple cap at the end of the match, officially taking over as the tournament's leading wicket-taker. The Colombo Kaps will now head to the Eliminator, where they will face either the Kandy Royals or Dambulla Sixers depending on tomorrow's outcome.

Galle Gallants won by 13 runs

Malinga to Sahan, 1 run, OUT, Low full toss ball on the off stump line, shuffles across and clips it aerially towards deep square leg. Sahan called for the second run straightaway, but Mondol seemed busy watching the ball, failed to respond in time and left both batters stranded at the same end. A nightmarish outing overall for Mondol on his LPL debut, hanging his partner out to dry and bringing a chaotic end to the Kaps' innings today.

Malinga to Tharupathi, OUT, Straight up in the air and that's taken! Slower through the air ball on the stumps line, advances down the track and goes for the big hit across the line, miscues it into the night sky. Malinga settles underneath, holds on to it using the reverse cup technique and then collapses on the turf. A sigh of relief for the Gallants as they managed to get the wicket of the dangerous Tharupathi.
