Jayasuriya swoops down on the ball and throws it to Dickwella, who does the rest after a bit of a hesitation. Jaiswal has to go. What an unfortunate way to go. 84.1 Turn and bounce! Good catch at short leg as Nuwantha bags another. On a length, turns in sharply and bounces at Rahul, who is surprised by the big turn with the new ball. 80.4 but it is Pant who has been rattled back to the shed! Superb bowling by the debutant. Excellent nerve to hold his line and give this air. On a length outside off and that is Pant's cue to charge and look to smash it into the ocean. He does not get to the pitch of the ball, meaning that when he swishes at it, he only slices it up into the air. Deepish mid off makes ground to his right, slides and hands the debutant his first-ever Test cricket. Nuwantha will remember this one quite fondly too! 307/3

109.1 Whoa! One-handed screamer from de Silva at slip. He throws himself to his right, stretches out his right hand and comes out with the ball in his right hand. Dickwella loves it and embraces his captain. This was a good ball from Jayasuriya as well. Tossed up, drifts in, dips and turns. Draws a weak leading edge from Jurel. De Silva pulls off a stunner at slip 432/7

98.1 Nuwantha pleads and pleads and pleads, and the finger goes up! Jadeja reviews, though! Zipped through on a full length on middle and off. Seems to come in with the arm and Jadeja, propping forward to defend, gets done on the inside. Pinged on the front pad and the only thing that can save him here is the angle. No bat involved, and Ball Tracking has the ball clipping the outside of leg stump. Umpire's Call, and Nuwantha has three on debut. Jadeja has to trudge off! 377/6

113.1 Caught at long-on. Suthar can't clear the outfielder. Tossed up full on off, Suthar advances down the track, but loses his shape and yanks his bottom hand off the bat. He ends up miscuing it to Udara at long-on 447/9

112.6 Chipped to mid-off! Siraj's little cameo is over. Asitha has a smile on his face. Follows a bunch of short deliveries with a very full ball on middle. Possibly a slowie. Siraj, having backed away, does not connect well enough. He ends up popping up a catch to de Silva at mid-off. This is a simpler catch for the SL captain 447/8

116.4 Prasidh has been caught down the leg side. Banged in short and shoved down the leg side from round the stumps. Prasidh shapes for the pull and ends up gloving it behind to Dickwella. SL needed just four balls to take the final Indian wicket on the third morning 462/10

0.2 edged and grabbed at first slip! Siraj sends Madushka packing for a duck. Back of a length and seams away outside off, rears up at Madushka, who fends at it on the back foot and pops it up to first slip, where Padikkal takes a smart catch. Near-perfect start for Siraj with the ball 0/1

13.5 sliced to backward point, and Udara has to go! A touch shorter outside off and Udara thinks this is there for the taking, like the boundary in Suthar's previous over. This, though, bounces a little more and is perhaps not as short. Udara swishes at it irrespective and slices it straight to Jaiswal at backward point. Much more muted celebration by Suthar, and India now firmly into SL's middle order! 53/3

7.1 turn and bounce! Suthar strikes with his first ball. Chandimal nicks off to Pant. Beautiful first ball from Suthar. Tossed up from left-arm around, drifts in, turns and bounces sharply. Grazes the outside edge near the shoulder of the bat or rather the glove. So much overspin and bounce. Pant rides the bounce and snaffles the catch. This is why Suthar is rated highly by India's management 27/2

16.1 oh my days - that is a catch and a half! Superman Shubman at it! Floated up on a fullish length outside off. Kamindu skips down but is not to the pitch of the ball. Pushes at it and chips it towards extra cover, where Gill lunges low to his left and plucks it inches off the turf. Gill was almost horizontal to the ground as he took it and somehow, it never seemed like he would let it go. Brilliant, brilliant work by the skipper, and SL in all sorts now! 59/4

26.1 Jadeja into the wicket-taking act too! Or is he?! There is a referral for a fair catch! Fizzed through on a length on middle and off. Drifts in and then grips in the surface to spin away. DDS dangles his bat and the turn means the ball kisses the outside edge and floats through to slip. Rahul bends forward and snaps it up cleanly (as confirmed by replays). Jadeja on the board too, and SL in a whole heap of trouble now! 90/5

78.1 pinned on the pad, and the finger goes up! But Dinusha has reviewed this promptly! Back of a length on middle and off. Dinusha, for a change, gets trapped on the crease and seems to play all around it, although the promptness of the review suggests he may have gotten a scratch on this. Oh well, that quickness seems to be a false dawn. No bat involved, says the third umpire, despite a very minute murmur when the ball is next to the bat. Ball Tracking has the ball crashing into the middle of middle stump. Dinusha has to go, even though he is not at all happy about the decision, and he walks off to a standing ovation from those at the ground. A stellar innings, but it has now come to an end! 274/9

66.4 Unfortunate dismissal for Nuwantha. Gill takes it off the rebound. On a length and outside off, Nuwantha has a crack at it and drives it hard. Jaiswal leaps at silly point and tries to take evasive action. The ball hits his thigh and pops up in the air. Gill takes it at cover. Test wicket No.350 for Jadeja 243/7

77.5 oh, what have you done Prabath Jayasuriya?! Lobbed up on a length on middle and off. Jayasuriya looks at the flight and his eyes light up. Has an almighty swipe across the line but the ball goes straight up off the top edge, owing to the extra bounce and over-spin Suthar is generating. Jurel settles under it at deep square and does the rest. SL now eight down! 274/8

79.4 stumped by a mile, and SL have been bowled out for 284! Pulls the length back outside off, perhaps anticipating the charge. Kumara skips down anyway and tries to tonk it into tomorrow. Misses the ball by a fair margin and Pant completes the easiest of stumpings. Suthar finishes with four, and India fashion a 178-run lead! 284/10

0.3 caught behind! That's a huge boost for Sri Lanka. They needed to start explosively to stay in touch with India and Fernando has done that. It isn't exactly hsi best delivery, a touch short, very cuttable, which is what Jaiswal tries to do. But a hint of seam movement away and some more bounce due to this being a new ball takes the top edge through to the keeper 0/1

14.4 oh dear - a rush of blood, and Rahul perishes! Jayasuriya holds his nerve and his length. Hung up on middle and leg, inviting Rahul to step down and go big. Rahul does not get close enough to the ball and also tries to go over mid on against the spin. Cuts across it and the ball loops up off the leading edge. Mid off, placed deeper than usual, accepts the offering with glee. Jayasuriya on the board! 65/2

27.2 pinned on the back leg, and Padikkal has been trapped lbw! But Padikkal, like Gill, wants to have another look! Length ball on middle, and this skids in with the arm. Padikkal tries to play it off the back foot but the extra zip off the surface makes that untenable. Was it doing too much, though? That might be Padikkal's only prayer. Nothing on UltraEdge. And Ball Tracking has the ball thudding into middle and leg. Padikkal has to go, and Nuwantha has another in his debut Test! 111/4

20.5 thumped in front, and the finger goes up! Gill chats to Padikkal and then takes it upstairs! Zinged in on a length on middle and leg. Straightens a touch and Gill, down on one knee looking to slog it away, misses it. Struck high on the back thigh. Looked pretty straight but height could save him, like it did for Rahul. No bat involved. All eyes on Ball Tracking now and...it shows the ball to be crashing into the top of middle and off. Three reds, and the Indian skipper is on his way! 81/3

40.3 taken by the keeper running back and Kumara explodes in celebration. The fall away pull shot - and he actually does fall to the floor this time - doesn't work. The bouncer play finally works for Sri Lanka and after that thrilling cameo, the powers that be decide everyone needs a break. It's time for drinks. 174/6

30.3 appeal for caught behind, the umpire is unmoved, Dicwella wants the review and it is taken. The ball is shortish and shading down leg. Jurel swivels on his back foot, looking to pull. He understands he needs to keep his hands low for the shot but as much as he tries, it doesn't quite happen. Third umpire notes the closeness of the ball to the thigh pad. UltraEdge is making everybody wait. And when it finally comes up, to the delight of the SL fielders, there is a spike. Umpire Saikat's decision is reversed. Jurel is gone 120/5

42.3 skewed off the top edge, and an amazing grab at backward square leg! Jadeja falls too! Sharp bumper outside off and this gets big on Jadeja. More or less near the badge, meaning that Jadeja cannot roll his wrists over it. Plonks it off the top edge and the ball swirls towards backward square leg, who is placed deeper than usual. The sub fielder (Sooriyabandara) tracks it and then lunges to his left, almost like Gill did yesterday. Plucks it out of thin air with both hands, and India are now seven down! 179/7

46.2 short ball does the trick again! Zippy short ball on middle and off. Suthar, like Jadeja, looks to swat it away but fails to catch up to it. Beaten for pace more than anything else and he feathers it through to the keeper. Asitha has three, and this short-ball ploy has worked a charm for SL again! 188/8

47.1 nicked and taken! Looped up on a length just outside off. Does not quite spin in extravagantly, and the ball holds its line enough to kiss the outside edge as Kuldeep pokes at it. Smart grab by DDS to his right, and India are now nine down! 190/9

48.5 goes straight up, and that will be that for India's second innings! Dug into the track just outside leg. Prasidh backs away and swings for the fences. Loses control of his shot completely and the ball goes straight up. Kumara calls for it in the wide mid on region and does the rest. A strange passage of play to finish India's innings, but it is over now, and SL will need 372 to take a lead in the series! 193/10

6.6 bounced out. Siraj gets his man. It's been an absorbing battle. Fernando looked so settled. So switched on about not making a mistake. But until now, he's only had to worry about the pitched up deliveries. His stumps and his outside edge. Siraj gives him a new problem. The short ball. An accurate one. He goes for the hook. He mishandles the shot. Top edge carries through to deep fine. Brilliant stuff from Siraj. He stayed patient. He knew he had to wait for the right moment to pull this trigger 13/1

21.4 superb work by Jurel! Udara is hanging about, but this could be curtains for him! Length ball in and around off. Rears up a smidgen off a length and Udara has to fend at it. He tries to soften the impact but because gully is in so close, Jurel comes into play. He gets his hands down and seems to pick it up centimetres off the turf. Third umpire has been called in to see if the catch is clean. Looks like the fingers are under the ball, but the more the picture is zoomed, the more pixelated it looks, and the more it looks like the ball may have scraped a bit of the turf. Third umpire Raveendra Wimalasiri says he is satisfied that the fingers are under the ball, and Udara has to walk back! 47/4

7.2 celebrappeal for lbw. Not given on field. Suthar is certain. Gill looks for help from the close in fielders and goes for the review. Lovely length from the left-arm spinner again. It's in that 4-5m mark. It pins Sooriyabandara in his crease. He's playing for turn. There's not much. He's beaten on the inside edge and hit relatively high on the pad. Ball-tracking shows three reds and the India huddle blows up in celebration. Poor Sooriyabandara. That's not how he would've imagined playing his first ball in Test cricket; suddenly thrown in as a concussion sub with little time to prepare, trying to replace one of the team's best batters. 14/2

10.4 that's tame. He flaps at a relatively harmless delivery outside off. It's neither a vertical bat punch nor a hortzontal bat cut. That shows he didn't have an easy option to play an aggressive shot. He'll be thinking about that all the way back to the pavilion. Healthy edge carries to Rahul at a wide first slip. Good take 21/3

55.2 Arise, Ravindra Jadeja! Cometh the hour, cometh the man! A bit more air on this, and this is on a length on middle and off. DDS, after the previous ball, thinks he needs to sweep this off a length. Does not get close enough, though, and the extra bounce Jadeja is getting means this spoons up tamely off the top edge. Short fine leg does the rest, and Jadeja has broken a very threatening stand! 142/5

75.1 taken at leg slip! Dinusha after such an accomplished performance has to walk after finding the only close catcher that India were willing to put next to him. Suthar bowls to that man. The ball tossed up outside leg stump. That means the batter could have padded it away. Instead, he trusts his defence and goes for it. A bit of extra bounce secures the inside edge onto pad and goes to Jurel at a comfortable height. Misses out on a second hundred in the Test match but he's going to have a huge role to play in the next 10 years 199/7

59.6 change in angle works a charm immediately! Thundered half-way down, just outside leg. Dickwella, like a deer caught in the headlights, continues shimmying around his crease. Steps away to the leg side, only to realize the ball is much closer to him than he envisioned. Tries to flay it away but the lack of room means he only feathers it through to the keeper. Prasidh with a vital wicket, and India into the lower order now! 156/6

77.4 knocks him over. India win. The inside edge now avoids the pad and clatters into the stumps. Handshakes in the Indian dugout. Celebrations for Suthar. He's picked up 10 wickets in the game. This is as good as any because he is more known for his flight and dip and turn. The straighter ball is something that he has been working on and it provides the final flourish here. Pushed through on off stump. Forcing the batter onto the back foot. Into uncertainty. Nuwantha's defence isn't solid enough. 206/10

75.2 bowled im. This is the square seam delivery. So Suthar seeing a tail-end batter doesn't want turn. He just wants to keep the stumps in play and his thinking pays off. Pushes it through quick and flat on off stump. Jayasuriya goes back to block. Plays a little too far inside the line of the ball and is beaten on the outside edge and his off stump takes an almighty knock 199/8

75.6 appeal for caught behind and it's been given out on field. Kumara walks off. Three wickets in the over. India just one away from a win in their 600th Test\. Tossed up delivery from around the wicket. Kumara pushes forward - simply because of the flight - to block. But he has no hope of getting to the pitch of the ball. He has to feel for it outside off. And in doing so, he gets a feather through to Pant. Five for Suthar. 199/9
