Rain plays spoilsport after Sarfaraz blitz
Rajasthan Royals chose to bowl on a Chinnaswamy Stadium surface expected to have a little in it for the seam bowlers

11.40pm It's called off, no play possible today. The players and officials are shaking hands near the dressing room and both teams will take a point each from Bangalore. So Rajasthan Royals are level with CSK now, with 12 points, but a place below them and CSK have two games in hand. RCB are right behind them at third. That's all we have today from this match, catch us again tomorrow for CSK v KKR, the same teams that played yesterday. Until then, buh-bye!
Adarsh: "RR are soooo lucky!!!!"
11.30pm Threatening news from the ground - all covers, including the outfield, are back on. Nagraj says the chances of a match are diminishing fast, even the super sopper is not being employed anymore.
Lokesh: "Seems like fans have started leaving the stadium."
Well, this is frustrating. The drizzle has returned. They are covering up the ground #RCBvsRR #PepsiIPL #RCB #RR #IPL pic.twitter.com/ByzPcFyuLA
— IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) April 29, 201511.15pm Here's some good news if you still want a game - the main covers are being taken off, two super soppers on the field. Oh, looks like the pitch is being covered again, just as the umpires came out for inspection. Yes, it's still drizzling.
If the match is reduced to 10 overs, Royals will chase 114, and in case of a five-over chase, the target will be 64.
Shrey: "Minimum how many overs are required to be bowled?" Five. And they need to start by 11.58pm local time.
11.05pm The groundsmen began to peel the covers off, the umpires walked out, but it started raining again. Our man at the ground - Nagraj - says the rain and the crowd both are being rigid, not willing to leave!
ARUN: "@aka - Sarfaraz is more of Desilva than Ranatunga. He bowls handy off spin as well and he is kind of a maverick batsman like the mad max:)"
Melvin: "RCB might get a slight advantage if overs are reduced. Not many of RR batsmen are known for hard hitting.
10.55pm So if the match starts by 11.01pm, which is highly unlikely, we'll have all 20 overs of the chase. And looks like the cut-off time for the match to be played is 11.58pm. The rain has reduced to a light drizzle now...
"Prem: "Did we start loosing the overs already?" From 11.01pm
Aka: "Not sure Its just me but somehow that bulky built of the young lad S Khan in helmet reminds me of Ranatunga."
10.45pm The groundsmen and super-soppers are at work since the rain has subsided a bit. There are lots of water puddles as the poncho-clad groundsmen struggle to clear it away. At least three super-soppers on the ground right now.
10.28pm Maybe no inspection anytime soon:
It is absolutely pouring down at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. We will keep you updated. #RCBvsRR #PepsiIPL pic.twitter.com/EdiKms88F7
— IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) April 29, 201510.15 pm The groundsmen got a little optimistic by removing the covers. And swift as the ESPNcricinfo jinx, the rain returns. It's a pretty steady rain at the moment. Inspection scheduled at 10.25pm, but will the rain relent for that?
Rish: "If we get a 10 over game from here...what would be the revised target?" Around 114
"Not a drop of rain just 3 km from the stadium!" Shobhit goes ha ha!
John: "Duckworth Lewis might have something to say about all those flowers, chocolates and free playstations..." Party poopers!
10.00 pm "Made use of the opportunity I got today," says a smiling Sarfaraz Khan. It's a pretty strong total from the home side, but remember this is a ground that welcomes a chasing team with flowers and chocolate and free playstations. That is when the drizzle stops. The covers are on, but it doesn't seem terribly threatening scratch that, seems like its picked up...
Vishnu: "Waiting who is going to be the youngster from RR tonight. Samson or Hooda?"
talha naik: "He was always born to play cricket. Playing on maidans of mumbai since age of 5.. just need to keep in check his behaviour. . All n all proud of my schoolmate..#sarfaraz" ---- For those scouring the vast, wide, endless cyberspace for info on him, shame on you for looking elsewhere. Amol Karhadkar has got all you need to know right here. Archive - Sarfaraz, representing India U-19 and his father
Yogesh Rajput: "Sarfaraz - Find of the day. Southee - Form gainer of the day."
9.47pm Sarfaraz gets a lot of punches as he walks back, Kohli greeted him first with a bow and folded his hands. Once RCB lost Gayle and Kohli early, they needed someone to stay till the end for a score close to 200. De Villiers started very well but could not carry the momentum on, he was run out and then Sarfaraz threw his bat at almost everything to make sure RCB got there. Off the edge or middle of the bat, he got runs however he could
Julious: "This will be a good contest - testing the in-form, strong & deep RR batting Line with Starc leading the lead attack from other side.. :)"
Minasco: "Considering the fact that Gayle+Kohli chipped in with only 11 runs and final score being 200 talks a lot about RCB middle order slowly getting back to form"
Piyush: "Days ahead, results might fade in memories but will remember this guy sarfaraz khan's performance for a long time. man you have earned a huge number of fans today!!"
