1:54pm That will be all from us for this game. Plenty more coming your way, though, with this game between Ireland and Sri Lanka starting in a bit. Until next time, from all of us here at Cricinfo, it is goodbye!
Melie Kerr, New Zealand captain: Really happy to keep them to that total. They got off to a flier and Carter played a good innings. But with four overs left, we pulled them back nicely. Some good stuff in the field and some stuff we can be better at. Nice to get the win. (On the partnership between Sharp and Halliday) We don't want to keep losing three in the powerplay but what a special knock from Sharp. Have seen her in the nets in the Super Smash, and she has the potential to be one of NZ's best-ever and the best in the world. (On their next game) We are excited, The Oval is a great place to play cricket. Today, it (the pitch) was a bit slower. Normally at The Oval, it is a belter and a sell-out.
Kathryn Bryce, Scotland captain: We started off fantastically with the bat and then a tough period (at the end). Left about 20 runs out there, and that was the difference. We did really well to get early wickets, had a couple of chances, if one of them stuck, would have been a different game. Pretty tough with the bigger boundaries, and a bit slow as well, so tough to judge. They (NZ batters) ran really well out there. (On the positives from today) The batting was a massive point, and taking those early wickets. Have not taken as many powerplay wickets earlier in the competition. (On Carter) Absolutely fantastic. Had a big score against WI, and was disappointed (not to continue). She has learned from that and really proud (of her efforts).
Izzy Sharp, Player of the Match: (Batting at 3) Just trying to make the most of it, do that domestically. Just wanted to make the most of it whenever I got the opportunity. We knew we (Halliday and me)a had to be there till the 14th over, did not matter too much about the runs-per-over. After that (14-over mark), we were able to accelerate, which is awesome. Love batting with her (Halliday), and hopefully a few more (such partnerships).
1:40pm NZ were put under severe pressure, especially through the powerplay, but they have Sharp, promoted up the order today, and Halliday, an experienced head through the middle, to thank. Sharp took up more of the run-scoring burden with Halliday happy to bide her time. Sharp finished with her highest WT20I score, with Halliday remaining unbeaten to ensure that there were no further hiccups.
Scotland, like in almost every game at this tournament, gave it a proper rattle and they had NZ worried during the powerplay. Bryce was the pick of their bowlers but they did not have enough on the board to prolong their fight, and to truly consign NZ to elimination as defending champions.
Kathryn Bryce to bowl what should be the last over of this game. Around the wicket

Ananth: "There used to be touranments with A teams of major nations and associate nations, they were very competitive, hopefully ICC would regularise organising such tournaments." -- Still happens from time to time, but yes, a concrete schedule with more regular cricket could be very useful, especially for the Associate nations.
