Record-breaking HR comes to life 40 years later
On April 8, 1974, Hank Aaron belted the 715th home run of his career to surpass Babe Ruth and become Major League Baseball's all-time home run king. While the record now belongs to Barry Bonds at 762, Aaron's home run remains one of the most iconic moments in the history of sports.
On the 40th anniversary of No. 715, ESPN.com presented a live re-enactment of Aaron's record-breaking achievement, retelling the story as if it had happened in 2014.
In addition, ESPN.com writer and Aaron biographer Howard Bryant chatted throughout the live event.
