SAN MARCOS, Texas -- — Davian Jackson scored four touchdowns including a 57-yarder late in the fourth quarter to ensure Texas State's 49-35 win over North Texas for the Bobcats' first win of the season on Saturday.
Jackson, not finding any room inside, broke around the right side untouched for the game's final points with 3:07 remaining. Brad Jackson threw four touchdown passes, including a 13-yarder to Jackson midway through the fourth quarter for a 42-28 lead.
The Mean Green (1-2) had closed within seven on Taven Jackson's 18-yard pass to Jaheim White with 5:24 to go.
The teams combined for 1,181 yards of offense. The Bobcats (1-2) had 337 rushing yards, led by Torrance Burgess Jr. with 214 on 25 carries and Davian Jackson's 77 yards on 10 carries with three TDs. Brad Jackson was 16-of-22 passing for 268 yards.
North Texas' Tayven Jackson was 43-of-57 passing for a career-high 483 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Justin Stevenson had 122 yards receiving on 10 catches.
Texas State led 21-7 after one quarter and North Texas matched that in the second quarter for a 28-all halftime tie.
