After an opening-game defeat to world champions Spain, Thomas Tuchel's side responded on Tuesday with a 2-0 win in Prague, meaning a win today could see them finish the day top of Group A3 if Spain fall to an unlikely defeat against Czechia.

Saturday's match will be played behind closed doors as a result of crowd disturbances at Croatia's Nations League quarterfinal against France in March 2025 -- seven fans were taken into custody on suspicion of making Nazi salutes during the game. They were later released without being prosecuted due to a lack of evidence.

After falling to a desperately disappointing defeat to Argentina in the World Cup semifinal despite leading the game with six minutes to play, England's next competitive game -- barring the subsequent third-place playoff -- came against the side which defeated Argentina in the final.

Tuchel's side more than held their own, overturning Lamine Yamal's early opener to lead the game at halftime thanks to Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane.

But goals from Álex Baena and Mikel Oyarzabal meant it was Luis de la Fuente's side who topped the group after one game, a position they still occupy.

But Kane and Gordon were on hand again against Czechia on Tuesday to give England their first win of their Nations League campaign after Pavel Sulc was sent off in the 25th minute.
