Fulham, on the other hand, come into this one rock bottom of the Premier League with just the one point from their four games so far.
A London derby win in midweek in the cup did something to ease the pressure on new boss Alvaro Arbeloa, who will be eager to head into his first break in charge off the foot of the table.
United's midweek capitulation has turned up the pressure on Carrick, who had up until the start of this season, enjoyed a fairly serene time as United boss. But back-to-back defeats, albeit one courtesy of a wrongly-awarded Erling Haaland goal by VAR, has seen him having to respond to questions of job security already.
He said in the build up to United's trip to London that it was "ridiculous" to think that he could be under pressure so early in the season.
"In terms of future and ownership and how long I've got in the job, I'm not thinking 'how long have I got?' It's ridiculous to think that way in a position that I'm in. That's just not on the radar," he said.
The odds are stacked in United's favour for this one though, with Fulham winless in their last 10 home games against the club. Their last win against United at Craven Cottage came back in 2009.
