Newcastle began with a 2-2 draw against Liverpool at St James' Park before securing their first victory of the season with a 2-0 win away at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Anthony Elanga has enjoyed a particularly bright start to the campaign, scoring in each of Newcastle's opening two league matches.

Newcastle continued their recruitment before the transfer deadline with the £51 million signing of 21-year-old forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo from Lille, who could make his debut against Bournemouth.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, are still searching for their first Premier League victory under Marco Rose after taking one point from their opening two matches. They were beaten 2-1 away at Manchester City on the opening weekend despite taking the lead, before being denied victory by a late Everton equaliser in a 1-1 draw at the Vitality Stadium last weekend.

Rose's side also emerged from a busy summer transfer window with several changes to the squad, including the arrival of Portugal international defender António Silva. Bournemouth can take encouragement from their recent record against Newcastle, having enjoyed considerable success in this fixture in recent seasons, including a 2-1 victory at St. James' Park in April.
