Welterweight titlist Kell Brook will make his first defense on March 28 at the Motorpoint Arena in his hometown of Sheffield, England, Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn announced on Monday.
But Hearn likes the slow build so he only announced the date and venue on Monday. If you want to know the opponent Brook will face, that will be another announcement, which will come at a news conference in Sheffield (and by press release) on Thursday.
Brook (33-0, 22 KOs), who was the mandatory challenger, outpointed Shawn Porter in Carson, California, to claim the title in August. Brook’s first defense was initially slated to take place late last year, but was canceled after Brook, 28, suffered a stab wound while on vacation in Spain in September.
