The stage is set for India's campaign at the Asian Games 2026 in Japan's Aichi-Nagoya. The Games will be held from September 19 to October 4, with Nagoya City's Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium hosting the opening and closing ceremonies. A total of 469 medals will be on offer in 43 sports with events happening across 54 venues.
The 501-member Indian contingent is aiming to build on its best-ever Asian Games performance at Hangzhou in 2023, where the country won 106 medals, including 28 gold, to finish fourth in the standings.

SHOOTING: 1 x GOLD, 1x SILVER
Neeru Dhanda wins GOLD
Neeru Dhanda became the first Indian woman in history to win an individual women's trap medal, let alone gold. She scored 28/30 in the final to earn only the second gold medal of the Indian shooting contingent at the 2026 Games, beating out Sun Yunong of China (silver, 26/30) and Hajar Abdulmalik (bronze, 21/25).
India women's trap team win SILVER
The Indian women's team of Neeru, Aashima Ahlawat, and Manisha Keer won the silver medal in the trap team event, with 328 points, three ahead of Kuwait's total, and well behind China's 346.
BOXING: 1 x BRONZE
Narender Berwal wins BRONZE
Narender Berwal won a second consecutive bronze medal at the Asian Games in the men's +90kg category, after losing his semifinal bout to reigning world champion Aibek Oralbay of Kazakhstan by a 0-5 scoreline.
ATHLETICS: 1 x BRONZE
Gulveer Singh wins BRONZE
Gulveer Singh continued his brilliant campaign with his third medal at the Asian Games 2026. He won the bronze in 5000m race in a timing of 13:32.75 behind Japan's Tomonori Yamaguchi's silver in 13:31.43 and Bahrain's Birhanu Balew's gold in 13:30.79.

ATHLETICS: 3 x SILVER, 3 x BRONZE
Yash Vir Singh wins SILVER
In Neeraj Chopra's absence, Yash Vir Singh took the early lead of the men's javelin competition before Rumesh Pathirage threw 88.33m in his fourth attempt and 88.55m in his final attempt to take gold. Yash Vir threw a personal best 85.72m in his final attempt, which was enough for the silver medal - and an Indian double podium alongside Rohit Yadav.
Sreeshankar Murali wins SILVER
Sreeshankar Murali won a second consecutive Asian Games silver medal in the men's long jump, with his effort of 8.07m enough to take second place behind Shi Yuhao's 8.17m. However, Sreeshankar appeared to have injured his ankle in the fourth jump, leading to him skipping his last two attempts.
Gulveer Singh wins SILVER
Gulveer won his second silver medal of the 2026 Asian Games, producing a superb run (3:36.72) in the men's 1500m where he lead the field for most of the race before falling behind Kazuto Iizawa of Japan right at the end (who won gold with the Games record).
Rohit Yadav wins BRONZE
Rohit Yadav took the lead of the men's javelin attempt with his third throw of 84.35m, but was swiftly overtaken by Pathirage and Yash Vir, with Rohit eventually finishing third, ahead of Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem in fourth, taking the bronze medal.
Parul Chaudhary wins BRONZE
Parul won her second bronze medal of the 2026 Asian Games in the women's 1500m, staying with the lead pack before Winfried Yavi and Nozomi Tanaka broke away in the last lap to take gold and silver, as Parul took bronze with a time of 15:14.61.
Vithya Ramraj wins BRONZE
In the women's 400m hurdles, Vithya Ramraj broke the long-standing national record she shared with PT Usha by almost a second, running a storming 54.75s to win bronze, behind Mariam Kareem of UAE who set a Games record (54.31s), and silver medallist Adelina Zems (KAZ, 54.58s).

Esha Singh wins SILVER
In the women's 25m rapid pistol final, Esha Singh lost to China's Xiao Jiaruixian in a shoot off after a dramatic, tense final.

Pincky Balhara wins BRONZE
Pinky Balhara repeats her bronze medal from the 2018 Asian Games, after losing her semifinal in women's 78kg against 2026 Asian Championships gold medallist, Mo Sumin of South Korea.

SQUASH - 2 x SILVER
Anahat Singh wins SILVER
In the women's singles final Anahat Singh - the first Indian woman to enter an Asiad singles final - lost to favourite Sivasangari Subramaniam of Malaysia 4-11, 4-11, 6-11
Abhay Singh wins SILVER
In the men's singles final, Abhay - just the second Indian man to enter an Asiad singles final - lost to favourite Ng Eain Yow of Malaysia 9-11, 5-11, 5-11.
ATHLETICS - 3x BRONZE, 2x SILVER
Harita Bhadra wins 200m bronze
Harita Bhadra finished third in 200m race in 23.20s, only 0.01s ahead of the fourth placed finisher.
Ancy Sojan wins silver in the women's long jump
Ancy Sojan gets the silver medal with her best jump of 6.53m. She was leading for most of the final but China's Huang Yingying jumped 6.55m in her final jump to take the gold medal.
Tejaswin wins bronze in decathlon
Tejaswin Shankar has won the bronze in decathlon after recording a total of 7934. This is second Asian Games decathlon medal after winning silver in Hangzhou three years earlier.
Parul Chaudhary wins bronze in women's 3000m steeplechase
Parul came up with a personal best timing of 9:08.67 to take home the bronze medal behind Kazakhstan's Norah Tanui who claimed silver in 9:06.82 and Bahrain's legendary Winfred Yavi, who won the gold in 9:04.36.
Sarvesh Kushare wins silver in men's high jump
Kushare won the silver medal after a best jump of 2.25m, same as Fu Chao-hsuan but the Chinese Taipei athlete won the gold on countback.

KABADDI - 2 x GOLD
Women's team wins GOLD
In a tight, sometimes fractious final against Iran, India held their calm in a chaotic end period to defend their Asian Games gold.
Men's team wins GOLD
A tight first half gave way to a second half which India dominated and eventually ran out 40-34 winners.
ATHLETICS - 2 x SILVER, 1x BRONZE
Sawan Barwal wins SILVER
Sawan Barwal won India's first marathon medal at the Asiad since 1982, breaking his own national record by 21 seconds to claim silver with a time of 2:11:37.
Tajinderpal Singh Toor clinches SILVER
It a hat trick of medals at the Asian Games for Tajinderpal Singh Toor. After back-to-back gold medals, Toor claims silver this time with a best throw of 20.64m behind Iran's Mohammadreza Tayebise who came up with a 20.81m games record throw.
Prachi wins BRONZE
In a timing of 53.21s, Prachi has finished third in the 400m.Baharai's Salwa Naser took the gold in 49.20 while Iran's Zahra Zarei claimed silver in 52.38m.

Ashi Chouksey, Tilottama Sen and Vidarsa Vinod win team SILVER
The women's 50m Rifle 3P team of Ashi Chouksey (585), Tilottama Sen (590) and Vidarsa Vinod (588) won the silver medal, finishing ten points behind China, who took gold with 1773.

Joshna Chinappa-Velavan Senthilkumar win mixed doubles BRONZE
The pair lost their mixed doubles semifinal against Tang Ming Hong-Lee Ka Yi of Hong Kong.10-11, 11-2, 10-11 in a dramatic match.

Suruchi and Kamaljeet win GOLD
In the mixed team 10m air pistol, the team of Suruchi and Kamaljeet broke the pistol shooting drought at this edition with a stunning show in the final, winning it by a whopping 6.6 points over South Korea.
Niraj, Rudrankksh, Aishwary win team SILVER
The team of Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Niraj Kumar, Rudrankksh Patil win team silver in the 50m 3P rifle shooting. They lose out to China by 4 points,1762 to 1766.

Manush Shah and Diya Chitale win team BRONZE
Manush-Diya lost to gold medal favourites Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha 4-0 in the mixed table tennis semifinal to win bronze.

Gulveer Singh wins SILVER
Gulveer finished with a time of 28:29.38 and it was a very comfortable second for the army man. He sandwiched a Bahraini 1-3
Manpreet Kaur wins BRONZE
With a best throw of 17.17m in the women's shot put, Manpreet Kaur overtook her compatriot Krishna Menon (fifth) and finished behind yet another China 1-2 to take bronze.
Baranica Elangovan wins BRONZE
In the women's pole vault, Baranica cleared 4.15m and then failed 4.25m, along with Kazakhstan's Polina Ivanova -- and they share the bronze.

Anantjeet Naruka - Parinaaz Dhaliwal win BRONZE
In the mixed team skeet, India's Anantjeet Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal beat out Qatar to bronze, with China and South Korea taking gold and silver.
ROWING - 1 x BRONZE
Satnam Singh and Salman Khan win BRONZE
The men's doubles sculls pair were in second place at the 500m, 1000m and 1500m mark, but fell away at the end to take the bronze medal, 3.48 seconds behind the winners.
WUSHU - 1 x SILVER
Naorem Roshibina Devi wins SILVER
Roshibina Devi made it consecutive silver medals at the Asian Games, as she lost her women's sanda 60kg final to Zhang Xiaoyu of China. The Manipur athlete also won silver at the 2022 Hangzhou Asiad.
ATHLETICS - 1 x BRONZE 1 x SILVER
Seema clinches bronze in women's 10,000m
Seema finished her 10,000m race in 32:50.05 to win a superb bronze medal. Bahrain's Winfred Yavi took the gold medal in 32:39.18 and Japan's Nozomi Tanaka won the silver in 32:41.54.
India win silver in mixed 4x400m
Outstanding running from Vishal TK, Poovamma, Manu and Vithya Ramraj as they finished the race in 3:14.46 to win the silver. Bahrain won the gold with games record timing of 3:12.87 and Vietnam took home the bronze in 3:14.54.

Mirabai Chanu wins SILVER
With a combined lift of 198kg (87kg in snatch, 111kg in clean & jerk), Mirabai Chanu has claimed her first Asian Games medal, only behind three-time gold medalist Ri Song Gum of North Korea, who broke the world record with a lift of 215kg.

India's men team wins BRONZE
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty were the lone winners as Lakshya Sen, Ayush Shetty and the pair of Arjun-Hariharan lost as China beat India 3-1 in the men's team semifinal.
SOFT TENNIS - 1 x BRONZE
Jay Meena wins BRONZE
Jay Meena lost out vs Takuya Kurosaka in the men's soft tennis individual semifinal.
SHOOTING - 2 x BRONZE
Indian women's skeet team wins BRONZE
The Indian women's skeet team of Raiza Dhillon, Parinaaz Dhaliwal, and Maheshwari Chauhan win BRONZE in the women's skeet event, with a total of 331. India finished behind China, who took gold with 346, with Kazakhstan in second.
Indian men's skeet team wins BRONZE
Soon after, the Indian men's skeet of Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmed Khan and Bhavtegh Singh win BRONZE in the men's skeet event, with a total of 346. India finished behind Qatar, who took gold with 353, with Kuwait in second with 348.

India women's team win GOLD
The Indian women's team have beaten Sri Lanka by 148 runs to win the nation's first gold of the 2026 Asiad. Smriti Mandana starred with a 45-ball 79 as India posted a mammoth 216/3 in 20 overs. Deepti Sharma's three-wicket haul saw Sri Lanka get bundled out for 69 in 15.4 overs.

Rudrankksh, who was leading in the early stages of the final, faded at the end to win bronze with a score of 230.9
