The first-ever Premier Padel event on UK soil could be a watershed moment for the rapidly growing sport.
Premier Padel is the world's top tour for professional padel, the sport which one million people in the UK are now playing recreationally, according to the Lawn Tennis Association, compared to only 150,000 in 2019. There are now 1,800 courts across over 550 clubs, the LTA say.
British number one Christian Medina Murphy believes strong crowds at this week's maiden London P1 signals "amazing news" for the development of padel in this country.
The Press Association understands over 20,000 spectators will have visited the Olympia venue in Kensington by the conclusion of the first professional padel tournament in England on Sunday.
Wild card Medina Murphy delighted local fans on Tuesday with a historic victory alongside partner Alberto Garcia Jimenez on day one of the main draw on Centre Court before he bowed out in the last 32 on Wednesday night.
It was nevertheless an experience to treasure for world number 173 Medina Murphy, who was one of 11 British male and female players involved in London P1.
Organised by Sela, Kingston upon Thames-born Medina Murphy relished the chance to fly the flag for Britain in front of a home crowd and is excited about the prospect of London P1 along with his own progress with Garcia Jimenez after they claimed FIP Bronze success at an Alicante event last month.
"A lot of things to take," Medina Murphy said, after a 6-2 6-1 loss to 10th seeds Juan Tello and Maxi Arce in 63 minutes on Court Two.
"First of all I saw a lot of people here in the first days watching, supporting me and supporting all the players and I think that is amazing news for UK Padel.
"I think in our level and looking to our level, I think we perform really good. We won the first round and that is really good performance.
"Yeah, really excited to be fighting against the best in the world and let's see what is coming next.
"We perform well and have to train a little bit more to have more chances."
Carlos Alcaraz of padel?
"Coming to London was always going to be special for Premier Padel and it has been a fantastic week," Premier Padel co-chief executive David Serrahima told the Press Association.
"We wanted to bring the top men's and women's players to the UK and the fact that Olympia sold out tells us that UK fans wanted that too.
"The passion from the fans throughout the week and the welcome we have received from everyone has been special and we're already looking ahead to bringing back a bigger and better event with our local promoter next year."
It was announced in May by the Lawn Tennis Association, the national governing body for padel in Great Britain, that participation of the sport had hit the one-million mark and the next big goal was to host a successful first elite event.
With organiser Sela signed up to put on London P1 for another 10 years, big future plans for the tournament are already being drafted up.
Prolific title-winning duo Coello and Tapia have provided star quality in the English capital this week to help create even more of a buzz around the tennis-squash hybrid, with numerous eye-catching shots from outside the glass and smashed winners to stun onlookers.
Viewed as the Carlos Alcaraz of padel, Coello has relished this past week in London.
"It's been a great experience so far. It's the first Premier Padel event in the UK, so you can really feel the excitement and it's fantastic to see the sport continuing to grow in new markets," Coello said.
"I think it's a really impressive venue, the atmosphere inside is amazing. It's a special place to play and a great stage for a tournament like this.
"Seeing so many fans here from the first days is incredible and hopefully this is just the beginning of an even bigger future for padel in the UK."

Premier Padel P1 runs from August 4 until August 9.
It is hosted at the indoor arena of the Kensington Olympia in London.

The semifinals are on Saturday, August 8.
The women's final is on Sunday, August 9 at 2 p.m.
The men's final is on Sunday, August 9 not before 4 p.m.
