After a three-week long absence, club football returned with a bang, after off-the-pitch shenanigans grabbed headlines during the break. The on-the-pitch stuff however, did not disappoint over the weekend, with plenty of goals and moments to talk about.
Here, ESPN India picks out a selection of the best to give you a quick review of the weekend gone by:

Match of the Weekend: AIK vs Brommapojkarna
A game against currently mid-table sides in the Swedish league that was 0-0 at half time. Exactly why was this match of the weekend?
It ended 5-6. There's a clue.
Allmänna Idrottsklubben and Idrottsföreningen Brommapojkarna to give them their full names, produced one of the most incredible halves of football in history, that simply deserves a watch.
There was no inkling of the madness that was about to follow when Simon Strand put Brommapojkarna 1-0 up in the 48th minute. Hakin Ali equalized for AIK in the 55th minute, but it still remained an even contest. Kamilcan Sever kicked things off in the 59th minute, giving Brommapojkarna the lead, and then the visitors plundered another three goals in the next ten minutes to go 5-1 up.
It was quite the eye-opening scoreline, as Brommapojkarna had not defeated AIK (one of the giants of Swedish football) in the last 20 years. At 5-1 up with twenty minutes to go, a bit of complacency crept in. Taha Ayari scored for AIK in the 73rd minute and it looked like a consolation - even when Sixten Gustafsson bundled the ball in from a free-kick in the 81st minute there was barely a flutter. Two minutes later however, Lucas Assadi floated a ball into the box where Gustraffsson made it a brace and the cat was well and truly among the pigeons.
With the Strawberry Arena roaring AIK on, Brommapojkarna went ultra defensive and looked to have clinched a narrow win, only for Johan Hove to curl a near-post shot into the bottom corner in the seventh minute of added time to make it 5-5.
Surely this was it?
AIK went in search of the winner, but were caught on the break two minutes later, when Mads Hansen turned in Oliver Zanden's cross from the left to seal an incredible victory for Brommapojkarna in the 99th minute with the final kick of the game.
11 goals in the half, ending a 20-year drought, and also breaking an 81-year-old record of most goals in a half in the Allsvenskan. What. A. Game.
Goal of the Weekend: Nuno Tavares vs Monza
Football is an intricate game, full of complexities. Analysts whirl away with terabytes of data, all in the hope of exploiting marginal gains. Decades of footballing data, personal background checks and more go into a signing. Billions of dollars are spent around the world in search of answers to opposition defences.
And then Nuno Tavares goes and makes a mockery of all that work, three minutes into Lazio's game against Monza, with what can only be described as a thunderbolt from Thor's hammer.
An outrageous hit from Nuno Tavares

BOOM!
Upset of the Weekend: Augsburg 2-2 Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich went into the international break on the back of a 7-0 destruction of Union Berlin. Their stars kept firing in goals on international duty, some of them strengthening their case for the Ballon d'Or. So, when they turned up to the WWK Arena in Augsburg, no one expected the Bavarian juggernaut to stop steamrolling everything in its path.
Perhaps that explains why Manuel Neuer received possession of the ball outside of his area straight from kickoff and took a heavy touch. He certainly did not expect Robin Fellhauer to be there, least of all to have the temerity to nick the ball off him and slide it into an empty net with just six seconds on the clock.
Harry Kane hit the bar with seconds to go in the first half, but on one really expected Augsburg's 1-0 lead to stand. Ismael Saibari drew Bayern level in the 55th minute - surely the floodgates would open now? Not if Neuer had anything to do with it. The legendary goalkeeper palmed Calvin Brackelmann's low drive from range back into danger in the 64th minute, and Rodrigo Ribeiro tapped the ball home with Neuer scrambling. Ouch.
Bayern, being Bayern however, would not be defeated and Kane did superbly to send in a low cross from the left in the 80th minute, which Nathaniel Brown turned in from close range, thus sparing Neuer some blushes. There was even time for Serge Gnabry to hit the post late on, but Augsburg held on for a surprise point - pushing Bayern down the third in the table. The horror.
Quote of the Weekend: Massimiliano Allegri remains Massimiliano Allegri
You can hand Massimiliano Allegri the most forward-thinking, opposition defence-breaking midfielder of the generation in Kevin de Bruyne (shush at you screaming 115), but the Italian has eyes on only one thing.
"If he starts playing as a deep-lying playmaker, he will extend his career, but he still wants to have fun up-front."
Of course, Allegri wants to push De Bruyne further away from goal. When he's just scored a brace to earn Napoli only their third win of the season. Of course.
Never change, Massimiliano.
Moment of the Weekend: Jordan Henderson creates a new timeline in the universe
What do you mean Jordan Henderson scored a brace in the year of our lord 2026?
Wait, what do you mean Henderson even scored?
What do you mean he'd done this against a Bournemouth side that had walked into the Anoeta and defeated Real Sociedad 2-1 before the international break?
Now if this sounds derogatory to the abilities of a Premier League and UEFA Champions League winning captain, sure. Be honest though, when Chelsea signed the 36-year-old this summer, did the word 'mascot' not enter your head?
Two brilliant Jordan Henderson strikes ✨ https://t.co/1Z78SviB8n

The Englishman midfielder has certainly made many shut up with his performance on the weekend. Not satisfied with becoming Chelsea's oldest PL goalscorer ever (as well as grabbing an assist three minutes into the game), Henderson turned in a five-star performance as Chelsea romped to a 5-1 win at home.
He capped it all off in the 70th minute, when as all the world expected Cole Palmer to strike a free-kick at goal, the 36-year-old stepped up and curled one straight into the top corner, leaving Djordje Petrovic diving in vain.
What a Stamford Bridge debut.
