On Friday, Excel Esports released a statement regarding its League of Legends European Championship roster. The Twitter post promised changes to the lineup for the 2020 LEC summer split.
Having reviewed their situation internally after falling short of playoffs, Excel said changes were necessary and that the team will switch up its top lane and mid lane positions. Excel's top laner this past spring was Ki "Expect" Dae-han, and mid laner was Son "Mickey" Young-min. The statement did not elaborate on whether these players would be leaving or simply remain on the roster as substitutes.

Excel finished the LEC spring split in seventh place with a four-match loss streak at the end of the split. The UK organization had some strong single-game performances, but were inconsistent throughout, ultimately costing them a playoff spot.
