The field for the 2026 Men's College World Series is starting to take shape with five spots solidified and three more up for grabs.
On Sunday, No. 3 Georgia came out of the Athens Super Regional victorious. UGA beat No. 11 Mississippi State 11-9 in 10 innings -- Georgia is now 5-0 in extra-inning games in the NCAA tournament, matching Pepperdine for the most wins without a loss in NCAA tourney history. Georgia will be in Omaha for first since reaching the MCWS finals in 2008. Then, No. 5 North Carolina rallied from a two-run deficit to eventually beat USC 4-3 to advance to the MCWS for the second time in the past three seasons (the 13th overall appearance for the Tar Heels).
Game 2 between No. 7 Alabama and St John's was suspended in the eighth inning due to weather with the Crimson Tide up 7-2. Play will resume Monday at noon ET on ESPN2. Additionally, Game 2 between No. 15 Kanas and Oklahoma was also suspended due to weather with the Sooners leading 8-1 in the third inning. That game will resume Monday at 1 p.m. on ESPNU.
Game 2 between No. 6 Texas and No. 11 Oregon is ongoing.
Already set for Omaha are the No. 16 West Virginia Mountaineers, the Troy Trojans and the Ole Miss Rebels. West Virginia crushed Cal Poly 17-1 to earn the school's first trip to the MCWS. WVU's 19 hits were its most in an NCAA tournament game since getting 25 in 1994. Troy advanced after sweeping Little Rock and is the third Sun Belt school to reach the MCWS, following Coastal Carolina (2025) and Louisiana (2000). Ole Miss punched its ticket after a comeback win over No.. 4 Auburn.
