Miami, Nebraska using their past to build their future

Miami and Nebraska share a history few college football programs in the country can match.

Between 1983 and 1997 the Cornhuskers and Hurricanes combined for seven national titles and faced each other four times in bowl games. During that run were some of history’s most memorable games, including the 1984 Orange Bowl when Miami safety Ken Calhoun broke up Nebraska quarterback Turner Gill’s two-point conversion attempt in the final seconds. It was marquee moments like that -- plus a combined five Heisman Trophy winners -- that established the Huskers and Canes as bluebloods of college football.
