He was destined to play for the Tigers from an early age, considering he regularly sneaked into practices as a boy to hone his football knowledge. Faurot was the first of four brothers who competed for Missouri, playing basketball, football and baseball. He coached the Tigers for 19 years and is credited as the father of the modern Split-T offense. During his tenure, the Tigers posted a 101-79-10 record, winning three conference titles and making four bowl appearances. After his retirement, he served as the school's athletic director and the Tigers' home field was named in his honor in 1972. -- Tim Griffin
