Coach: Okung's injury isn't a problem

Seattle Seahawks starting left tackle Russell Okung has a torn labrum in his shoulder, Q13Fox Seattle reported Monday, but Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Okung is OK and will continue to play. The Seattle TV station reported that the tear was significant, but Carroll emphasized it isn't a problem.

"Russell sprained his shoulder a few weeks ago, but hasn't missed a practice since," Carroll said. "He's been fine. When you sprain your shoulder, your labrum's involved. I don't know how far that went, but he came right back from it. He's had full strength and he's OK."

Okung suffered the shoulder injury in Week 3 against the Denver Broncos, briefly leaving the game before returning to the field. He played all of the last two games -- on the road against the Washington Redskins on Oct. 6 and Sunday in the loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Okung has been whistled for five penalties in the last two games -- three false starts and two holding calls.

Okung, a first-round draft pick in 2010 and a Pro Bowl selection in 2012, had offseason surgery to repair a torn ligament in his big toe that sidelined him for eight games last year. He missed all of training camp and most of the preseason.
