National team setter Kim Fajardo will miss the 6th AVC Cup for Women that kicks off on September 16 in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
Fajardo sustained a right knee injury that will force her to sit out for at least a month. "I just got the results this morning and the doctor advised four weeks of rest," she said Friday afternoon.
The Philippine team will need to find replacements not only for Fajardo but for five other key players who suited up in the recently concluded Asian Games where they got an eighth-place finish.
Jaja Santiago and Dindin Santiago-Manabat are set to compete as imports in the V Premier League in Japan, while Kianna Dy, Dawn Macandili, and Majoy Baron will join their collegiate team La Salle on a trip to New York.
The Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. (LVPI) is expected to submit the final lineup for the upcoming tournament by Friday.
