Jaguars waive McCray, 7 others as they trim roster to 78
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars have cut fourth-year cornerback Demetrius McCray and seven others in the first wave of preseason roster cuts.
The Jaguars also waived linebacker Joplo Bartu, receiver Shaq Evans, place-kicker Sam Ficken, cornerback Mike Hilton, running back Cameron Marshall, punter Ryan Quigley and receiver Jamal Robinson.
Jacksonville placed veteran offensive lineman Jeff Linkenbach (concussion) on injured reserve, put offensive lineman Luke Bowanko and rookie defensive lineman Jonathan Woodard on the physically unable to perform list, and waived/injured safety Earl Wolff (hamstring).
Those Monday moves trimmed Jacksonville's roster to 78 players. All NFL teams must reduce active rosters to 75 players by 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The Jags play at Atlanta on Thursday and must cut the roster to 53 players by Saturday.
