LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears released veteran quarterback Chris Chandler on Friday.

Chandler, who signed with the Bears as an unrestricted free agent in April 2002, started 13 games in two seasons with the team.

The 38-year-old quarterback started his career in 1988 with Indianapolis and also played for the Bucs, Cardinals, Rams, Oilers and Falcons -- leading them to the 1999 Super Bowl -- before coming to the Bears. In 2002, the two-time Pro Bowl selection became the first player in NFL history to start for seven teams.

Earlier this month, the Bears also released quarterback Kordell Stewart. The Bears' starter is Rex Grossman, and the team recently acquired free-agent Jonathan Quinn.
