British defensive linesman Efe Obada has been snapped up by NFL giants the Dallas Cowboys, despite playing just five games for amateur side London Warriors.
Obada, 22, currently works in a warehouse in Welwyn Garden City and has only played half a season in Britain's National Leagues, but he is set to fly to Texas next month for a rookie mini-camp with the five-time Super Bowl champions.
"This is a dream," Obada said. "It's amazing and life-changing. It's a major turning point in my life and feels like a movie.
"This could be it - I can change my life. This is unreal - this doesn't happen to people like me. I've never even been outside of London since I arrived in the UK."
Obada was discovered by Warriors defensive coordinator Aden Durde, a former NFL linebacker who worked as an intern coach with the Cowboys last summer. Durde has spent the last six months training the 6ft 6in giant for use as a defensive end or tight end.
Obada is understood to have signed a three-year deal with the Cowboys, although no financial details have been released. He will join fellow Briton Jack Crawford in Dallas, who attended school in London before moving to the United States in 2005.
