My colleague Mark Schlabach revealed his post-spring Top 25 today and the ACC has five teams representing:
No. 5 Virginia Tech
No. 16 Florida State
No. 19 Miami
No. 21 North Carolina
No. 22 Georgia Tech
Schlabach and I agree on the order of the top three teams in the ACC, but after that we go our separate ways. I'm willing to give Clemson more credit, as the Tigers will be strong on defense and I think they'll have enough talent to compensate for the losses of Jacoby Ford and C.J. Spiller. And I backed off on North Carolina a bit after this spring because of the uncertainly that still looms with the offense. The Tar Heels had the same defense last year, but proved it wasn't enough if they continue to turn the ball over. If Georgia Tech and UNC played today, I'd pick the Jackets, but it would be awfully close. It's not like Georgia Tech doesn't have a few uncertainties of its own.
If you've got any questions about Schlabach's ranking, feel free to hit him up on his 4 p.m. chat today.
