Just how well do Kareem Jackson and Johnathan Joseph know each other?

HOUSTON -- Where one goes, the other follows -- it's been that way almost since Johnathan Joseph and Kareem Jackson became teammates in 2011. They've been two of the Texans' most consistent players during that time, and lead a cornerback group that might be one of the strongest in the league. Both players signed multiyear extensions this offseason to ensure they'll be together even longer.

"Bebop and Rocksteady," Joseph said. "We come to cause havoc."

You've seen a little bit of it on "Hard Knocks." Joseph and Jackson shopping for baby clothes. Joseph and Jackson offering live analysis of the fights in Richmond. Joseph and Jackson offering way too much information about their underwear choices. So I put them to the test. How much do they know about each other after five years of playing together? How similar is their thinking?

The first challenge was separating the two. I enlisted Texans' ace PR intern Ellie Pardee to pull Jackson reluctantly away to a group interview.

Joseph and I began with his favorite color, favorite pair of shoes, favorite thing to eat. For Joseph it was black, Jordans and burgers. He guessed Jackson would choose black, Christian Louboutins and steak. Joseph said Morris Chestnut would play him in a movie and guessed that Jackson would think Denzel Washington would play him. If they had to change jobs, Joseph said both would be coaches.

Jackson's favorite color is red, and he guessed blue for Joseph.

"I used to like blue, though," Joseph said. "When I was younger. I changed."

"I wanted to say black so bad!" Jackson lamented.

Christian Louboutins are indeed Jackson's favorite shoes. He guessed LeBrons for Joseph, which we can allow since that's the same basic family of shoe. Jackson also figured Kevin Hart would play him in a movie.

If Jackson had to change jobs, he'd be an agent and he thought Joseph would be a lawyer. The answers didn't match, but his choice of lawyer showed pretty deep knowledge of Joseph's past -- he knew Joseph was a criminal justice major in college.

On food, Jackson correctly picked burgers as Joseph's favorite, but said his favorite was his mom's spaghetti. He gave Joseph a pass for not knowing that, though, because he only eats spaghetti when his mom makes it. When the two of them go out, it's always steak. Jackson knew former Bengals receiver Chad Johnson introduced Joseph to his wife. Joseph knew Jackson met his wife his rookie year in Texas.

Here's where it got weird.

What superpower would you like?

Joseph: "To travel, like, travel like light. Be able to appear anywhere anytime."

Like teleporting?

Joseph: "Yup, there it is."

What would Kareem say?

Joseph: "Same thing."

What did Kareem say?

Jackson: "You seen the movie "Jumper?" It’s like, say I’ve been in the locker room tons of times, so I could be like, 'I just wish I was in the locker room,' disappear from here and wind up in the locker room."

Teleporting. I told him Joseph had the exact same answer.

Jackson: "See we think alike. Is that scary or what?"

A little.

I saw that again in the discussion of fashion. Both agreed that the other has style, and had trouble coming up with fashion disasters they'd seen on the other. Joseph offered the oversized clothes he wore early in his NFL career.

"I’m sure when he looks back on his younger days it’s the 2X clothes," Joseph said. "Terrible. Terrible! No swag. No swag, Tania."

Jackson agreed, with the caveat that they were just fitting in at the time.

"That’s why we mesh well together," Jackson said. "We both stay on top of it with our dressing. Of course on the field, we have to bring our 'A' game. Pretty much think alike; we like all the same stuff."

Communication and chemistry is important for defensive backs, and it's easy to see why these two have it.
